Your Vote Counts
As polyamourists, we know that government laws and policies affects us. So it’s important to vote and show that the candidates and parties that accommodate us — have themselves the support of voters. The more votes that supportive parties receive in the election, the more those parties can ensure that government laws and policies accommodate us.
Voting day is Monday, October 19th, at these times:
Newfoundland, Atlantic, and Central Time 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Eastern Time 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Mountain Time 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Pacific Time 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- You’ll need to bring your Voter Information Card (if you have one) and ID (identification).
- ID can be your driver’s license, your provincial or territorial ID card, or any other government card with your photo, name, and current address. Non-photo ID is also possible.
- Your employer legally needs to give you 3 hours time off to vote if, on voting day, you work the whole time during the times above for your time zone.

Parties and Polyamory
The Canadian Polyamory Advocacy Association (CPAA) reviewed the program and put questions to all the Political Parties running in the Federal Election. The Conservative Party, and Christian Heritage Party, were found to be the least likely to support polyamory and change laws to better accommodate polyamory and polyamory families. Those Parties were also the least supportive of LGBQ+ issues.
The CPAA therefore suggests that when voting that you vote for a party other than Conservative and Christian Heritage.

Are you in a riding where the Conservatives are expected to win? Vote for the party that best represents your views. That ensures that issues that are dear to you are kept in the spotlight and where your party gets more votes — the other parties pay attention.
The CPAA
The Canadian Polyamory Advocacy Association advocates on behalf of Canadians who practice polyamory. It promotes legal, social, government, and institutional acceptance and support of polyamory, and advances the interests of the Canadian polyamorous community.

It is the CPAA’s position that adults should be free to choose to enter into multi partner intimate relationships without state interference as long as they are freely consenting and there is no criminal exploitation or abuse. Canadians have Charter rights to do so (rights of association, religion, equality, and of life, liberty and security of the person).
